      The Fulbright-Hays Seminars Abroad Program provides opportunities for overseas experience. The program is open to educators and administrators with responsibilities for curriculum development in fields related to humanities, languages, and area studies. The U.S. Department of Education has announced the award of grants under two Fulbright-Hays International Education programs: more than $ million has been awarded for 16 grants to institutions and organizations in 11 states for Group Projects Abroad Short-Term Projects; and more than $3 million to 34 institutions of higher education for Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad.

The Fulbright-Hays--Group Projects Abroad Program provides grants to support overseas projects in training, research, and curriculum development in modern foreign languages and area studies by teachers, students, and faculty engaged in a common endeavor.

Projects may include short-term seminars, curriculum development, group research or study, or advanced intensive language programs. in a beginning research paper. The content area is based on a five-week travel seminar, part of the Fulbright-Hays Seminars Abroad Program, called, “Inside Mexico: A Journey through History and Society.” Using that experience as a blueprint, the content area encompasses Aztec and Mayan.

As part of the seminar activity, each participant also develops a curriculum project. The Education Resources Information Center, in Washington, D.C., maintains record of all projects submitted as part of the Seminars Abroad programs. Number of Awards: Approximately Duration: Five weeks.
